Nursery Celebrates British Science Week
Nursery took part in British Science Week this week and enjoyed exploring this year's theme, 'Change and Adapt' with a series of exciting experiments.
Badgers and Hedgehogs enthusiastically embraced the topic by exploring the transformation of ingredients through baking. They began by feeling, smelling, and tasting dry ingredients, then moved on to uncooked cake batter, and finally, baked muffins.
They observed how mixing wet and dry ingredients creates an irreversible change. Next, they investigated how cooking alters the consistency of raw ingredients, which also cannot be reversed.
They watched a sped-up video of muffins rising in the oven, transforming from semi-liquid batter to spongy cake.
They then posed the questions: "Can we revert the muffins back to their raw ingredients after baking?" and "Can we return the ingredients to their original packets and bottles?"
The scientific conclusion was a resounding ‘no’! So, they ate them – yum!
